On 13 October we're going to the National Museum of
Natural history to see the Natures Best Photography, Underwater
Photography exhibit. In addition to the photographs there is a short
movie from Howard and Michelle Hall. The 2008 Nature's Best Photography Windland Smith Rice OCEAN VIEWS Exhibition at the Smithsonian National
Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC, was created as a complement
to the opening of the Museum's Ocean Hall this fall.
We'll meet at the shop at 8 AM and drive down to
Gaithersburg to catch the Metro to the museum. If your interested in
joining us please give us a call.
Training
We still have room for anyone interested in the SDI
Solo Diver Course. Classroom session September 8 at the shop from 6 to
10 PM. Open Water dives September 27 and 28. Course price is $150.00.
Underwater Navigation Class - 18 and 19 October,
course price is $150.00. For an additional $75.00 Night/Limited
Visibility specialty certification can be taken at the same time.

YMCA SCUBA Program Ending
As a Y Scuba Instructor for the past 14 years I am
very saddened to hear of the end of the oldest national scuba
certification agency. Today I received a letter from the National YMCA
announcing their decision to end the YMCA of the USA support of the Y
Scuba Program as of 31 December 2008. Even though I had heard rumors about it at least two
years ago, a part of me didn't believe it would happen. For those of you
we certified as Y divers, the YMCA of the USA will still maintain
records and issue replacement cards. If you loose your card and need a
replacement we'll do everything we can to help you get it replaced.

All you have to do is visit

We have just returned from our trip to St. Vincent,
where Mary had a chance to use the Nikon P5100 in a Fantasea Housing.
She is very pleased with the number and quality of keeper photographs
she made with this combination. As an added bonus her SeaLife flash was
compatible with both the camera and housing and worked flawlessly. Some
of her photos are posted in the
Photo Gallery.
During our trip Brett Penrod completed his 100th dive,
Congratulations Brett!!!
Welcome aboard to our newest Dive Masters. Joe Pierce
and Mark Noble completed their Dive Master certifications in early June.

Blue Marble Divers is pleased to announce that the SDI
SOLO DIVER Speciality has been added to our specialty courses. You can

Dennis Fortney Completes DAN O2 Instructor
Certification
By completing his training Dennis becomes BMD's DAN
O2, 1st Aid and along with is wife, Joan, CPR Instructor. We'll be
offering DAN O2 certification at least once each quarter. Check the
calendar for specific dates, times and location. Congratulations
